ACC
Sensitive claims contract
As part of my work within the ACC Sensitive Claims service, I have developed a specialised Occupational Therapy programme supporting people to re-engaging with pleasure, joy, intimacy after sexual harm, assault, harrassment and/or rape.
Within the ACC Sensitive Claims Contract, Occupational Therapy supports kiritaki/clients to rebuild confidence and participation in meaningful aspects of daily life, including sex, intimacy and pleasure.
This programme takes a pleasure-centred approach to recovery. Whilst honouring the debilitating impact of trauma, the work focuses on helping people reconnect with pleasure, joy, sensuality, and whatever feels meaningful to you.
In many ways, this specific programme is less about exploring how someone fell down into the well, and more about supporting them to climb back up and enjoy the sunlight again.
This Occupational Therapy programme can support practically with things like:
• Sensory awareness and nervous system regulation• Confidence through modern and balanced sex education• Gradual re-engagement with pleasure and meaningful activities• Trauma-informed approaches to intimacy and touch• Impact on daily functioning and relationshipsAt the heart of this work is a simple idea: pleasure is not a luxury in recovery, but rather a powerful pathway back to agency and empowerment.
As a Service Provider (OT) I’m looking forward to collaborating with Named Service Providers working in the Sensitive Claims space to provide the best possible care we can for you.
